KUCHING: La Promenade Mall today announced a School Holiday Night Run for Dec 10, with registration open at an early bird price of RM50.
Dec 10 is the first day of the year-end school holidays — a perfect opportunity for families and keen joggers to take part in a wholesome activity within the safe confines of La Promenade’s gated community.
FREEBIES: Both 3km and 6km runs come with beautifully designed event tees, finisher medals, blinkers, and the first 100 who sign up will receive RM10 mall vouchers.
SAFE: Both 3km and 6km run include the tree-lined Jalan La Promenade inside the gated community.
There are two run categories, 3km and 6km. All participants will get event tees, which are available from kids’ sizes, finisher medals and blinkers.
The first 100 participants will also get RM10 vouchers to spend at the mall along Kuching-Samarahan Expressway.
VOUCHER: Early bird sign ups not only get cheaper fees but also additional RM10 food vouchers.
“Dec’s La Promenade School Holiday Night Run follows on from our successful La Promenade Fitness Weekend in May, during which there were 1,350 participants,” corporate communications manager Sophia Ong said.
“We received a lot of positive feedback from families, so we thought, let’s do a school holiday event too. “Both 3km and 6km routes will be within La Promenade making it possible for families with strollers to participate.”
THROWBACK: La Promenade Mall’s Fitness Weekend on May 7 attracted 1,350 runners. Its success spurred the mall to organise the year-end School Holiday Night Run. The event will also see a Best Dressed category (just like Fitness Weekend) and a lucky draw with
attractive prizes, from family meals at La Promenade Mall’s new restaurants to electronic items.
The co-organiser for the event is notable Kuching marathoner Anthony Lee, City Joggers Club and Sains, the Sarawak Government’s technology solutions provider.
Lee has been collaborating with HSL since September, leading a weekend run club at the mall.
“From the very first run, it surprised me the high number of participants. Every Saturday, there are well over 100 runners. HSL’s joggers’ club has become one of the most popular in town. I look forward to Dec’s joyful school holiday run,” Lee said.
“Running is bigger than ever before. La Promenade’s Fitness Weekend got 1,000 over runners, while the recent Kuching Marathon had 10,000 runners, I think nowadays everyone really sees the value of health. Running is also a great sport for mental health.”

COMMUNITY: La Promenade Mall is located along the busy Kuching-Samarahan Expressway. The mall fronts the 200acre gated development best-known for landscaping.
