HSL Christmas Street Lights Up at La Promenade

HSL’s annual La Promenade Christmas Street is back this year with carolling, snowfall and weekend light shows.
It’s a joyous time of the year, and HSL loves lighting up our real Christmas trees for the occasion.
Between the first and second year, HSL installed brighter and more energy efficient lights. In the fourth year of the event, colourful lights were added.
For 2025, HSL doubled the budget. HSL has gone back to the classic warm lights, and added snowfall machines, the highlight of the event.

A soft cheer ripples through the crowd as Christmas awakens: one Norfolk pine at a time, each tree blooming with light along La Promenade’s famed boulevard.
Moments later, when the first flakes of machine-made snow drifted down, children squealed, adults laughed, and for a little while, the Kuching-Samarahan stretch felt like a place touched by Christmas magic.

Every Friday to Sunday until Christmas, between 8pm and 8.30pm, there will be a free “Let It Snow” show, and on Dec 12 and 20, from 8.30pm onwards, there will be carolling sessions. HSL is working with local churches — Gereja Methodist Iban Kuching and Samarahan Grace Methodist Church — for the shows.
There is also the Promenade Christmas Market every Friday to Sunday, with food, crafts and family-friendly stalls, and the return of the annual “Captured at La Promenade” social media content campaign.

Alongside the festive attractions, HSL is launching an upgraded ‘Captured at La Promenade’ content campaign.
“Previously it was just a photo contest. This year, we’re adding an entirely new reels category, each with its own prizes. Participants can submit unlimited entries, and winners get the opportunity to win attractive prizes,” said Tiong.
La Promenade, HSL's flagship 200-acre township within a park, between Kuching and Samarahan, is famed for its scenic, tree-lined boulevard, one of the city’s most photographed Christmas spots.
