HSL supports Sarawak runners at Taipei Marathon

HSL is sponsoring seven elite runners to beat their personal bests at the 2026 Taipei Marathon.

Beyond personal goals, the team is also aiming to set new records for Sarawak.

HSL continues to promote healthy living by supporting these seven athletes from different states, all united by the mission to succeed in Taipei.

The Taipei Marathon is one of Asia's biggest races, hosting 28,000 participants, including 9,000 full marathoners and 19,000 half marathoners.

Lebih daripada sekadar memburu masa, penyertaan mereka mencerminkan disiplin tinggi, ketahanan mental dan komitmen luar biasa terhadap sukan larian jarak jauh, meskipun masing-masing bergelar pelari amatur yang berlatih pada tahap elit.

Antara tonggak utama pasukan ialah Dr Owen Tan, yang telah berkecimpung dalam dunia larian selama hampir 10 tahun.

“Maraton bukan sekadar berlari jarak jauh. Ia menuntut disiplin, latihan konsisten, pengurusan pemakanan, rehat mencukupi serta keseimbangan antara kerja dan kehidupan peribadi,” katanya pada sidang media pengumuman penajaan HSL untuk Maraton Taipei 2025, di sini hari ini.

Meanwhile, HSL marketing and communications lead, Abraham Tiong, said that the runners’ dedication is inspiring.

“All seven runners are balancing full-time jobs while pursuing their marathon goals.

“Most are largely self-funded, which makes HSL’s sponsorship especially meaningful,” he said.

选手们的核心目标是打破当前美里马运会教练莫哈末吉罗尼于2016年吉隆坡马拉松中创下的2小时39分57秒记录。

杨佳伟在福胜利大厦举行的记者会上表示，非常敬佩莫哈末吉罗尼，若能刷新砂拉越记录，那就是站在巨人的肩膀上，更何况他的记录是在赛道难度更高的吉隆坡创下的。
