KUCHING: Hock Seng Lee (HSL) today announced Sunway Traditional Complementary Medicine (TCM) Centre as a La Promenade Fitness Weekend partner.

Sunway merchandises will be in all race packs of the La Promenade Half Marathon, 10km, 5km and 3km categories.

Sunway will provide all runners free on-the-spot consultation and free cupping sessions at La Promenade Mall between May 6 and 8.

Its medical professionals will also sell post-marathon recovery packages, and products like herbal plasters and immunity booster teas.

The medical centre’s booth will be next to the race pack collection on all three days.

Sunway opened the TCM centre at Canaan Square in Feb 2022. This month, Sunway is opening its Fertility Centre at the same location.

“Sunway’s a great partner for the first La Promenade Fitness Weekend. Both companies — HSL and Sunway — have many shared brand values like healthy living, family fun and environmental sustainability

“Having a joint HSL-Sunway collaboration means more for runners: more freebies, more health advocates for the public to speak to, more for everyone to look forward to,” HSL senior property development general manager Tay Chiok Kee said.

The Half Marathon at La Promenade is the first since 2019. All categories are limited to 350 participants maximum as per existing Sarawak Government SOPs.

To date, the most popular categories have been the 3km Family Walk and 21km competitive with timing chip. All routes start and finish at the mall, and all routes include portions of the 1.8km La Promenade tree-lined boulevard.

The Family Walk is entirely within gated portion, making this a traffic-free event that is stroller friendly.

HSL is organising the run with Grit Event Management. “All the routes are fast, flat and safe. Not only will all runners run through La Promenade, but 10km and 21km participants will also journey to Tanjong Bako, past amazing rivers and picturesque kampungs,” Grit founder Awang Saifeluddin said.

“We strongly believe many personal bests will be achieve on this fast course.”

Early bird response as been better than anticipated. Corporate sign-ups have included groups as large as 20 participants.

TREE LINED: All categories include La Promenade's gated portion, featuring 1,800 pine trees.

Over May 6-8 weekend, there will also be the Sweat Challenge by The Sweat Factory, a functional fitness centre at the mall’s level four.

The Sweat Challenge includes a professional invite-only category with teams coming from Kuala Lumpur, Penang, Kota Kinabalu, Miri and Bintulu.

The Samarahan-level of X-Tive Sarawak, organised with the Government, will also take place. There will be Zumba and yoga classes, Muay Thai demos by Rentap Muay Thai and Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu demos by Studio 23 on Saturday and Sunday. All X-tive events are free.

HSL intends to make the La Promenade Fitness Festival an annual event, just like the recently concluded Sarawak Open – Bonsai and Suiseki Championship.

Sign-up fees for the runs start from RM30-RM60 during early bird (ending April 8, 11:59pm) and RM40 to RM70 after. Group sign ups of five participants are the cheapest.

La Promenade Mall is at the gateway between Kuching and Samarahan. It is the first commercial development of the 200acre development. KUCHING: Hock Seng Lee (HSL) today announced Sunway Traditional Complementary Medicine (TCM) Centre as a La Promenade Weekend partner.
