Media Highlights - HSL Ekiden Wins Over Sarawak Runners

HSL Ekiden brought together runners from across Sarawak, with nearly 60 teams and over 300 participants taking part at La Promenade. Team Haolian claimed the Open category title.
Sarawak’s first multi-stage running event, the HSL Ekiden Relay Race, was held successfully yesterday. The event attracted strong participation and great energy from all teams.
Team Haolian finished in first place, followed by Millennium Runners in second place, while RevRun secured third place.

Pasukan Haolian menjuarai kategori terbuka manakala bagi kategori veteran dimenangi Pasukan Kaliu.
Pelari terpantas ialah Ryan Victor yang mencatat masa 9:03 bagi jarak 3km.
Turut serta beberapa pelari elit negeri termasuk Sally Yap, Sunny Jong, Apple Cheng Jia Xin dan Md Mustafa Rahman.

Team Haolian leader Tan Jit Ping described the race as a new and exciting experience for the local running community.
“For the first time ever, East Malaysia has an ekiden. It is so exciting for us. A totally new and unique experience,” he said, adding that runners had long been hoping for such a format.

HSL’s Ekiden Relay Race is modelled after the popular Japanese event format, which is usually held around the new year.

CJC president Elisabeth Wong shared similar sentiments, noting that the race recorded a full turnout.
“It’s the first time we’ve seen a racing event with 100 per cent participation. It’s clear that HSL’s Ekiden has wide support,” she said.
The winning teams took home RM3,000 in cash prizes, fully funded by HSL, a Sarawak-based construction firm.

Ketua pasukan Haolian, Tan Jit Ping menyifatkan acara tersebut sebagai pengalaman baharu yang unik kepada komuniti pelari di Sarawak.
“Sebelum ini komuniti pelari memang menantikan acara ekiden dan akhirnya ia direalisasikan. Ia satu pengalaman yang sangat menyeronokkan.
“Konsep larian secara bergilir yang melibatkan penyerahan selempang antara pelari menambahkan elemen keseronokan serta semangat berpasukan,” katanya.

公开组方面，Haolian队以52分16秒成绩夺冠， 以12秒之差力压以52分28秒完赛的Millennium Runners队， Revrun队则以52分36秒位居第三。
宿将组方面，Kaliu队以54分47秒摘下冠军，Haolian队以56分29秒获得亚军， U42T Team Reservoir队则以58分45秒排名第三。
