La Promenade Mall Oktoberfest is back this Sept 14

KUCHING: Hock Seng Lee (HSL) is excited to announce the return of La Promenade Mall’s Oktoberfest, which begins Sept 14 until Oct 8, Thurs-Sun.

The four-weekend festival is the second time La Promenade hosts Oktoberfest.

Last year’s Oktoberfest at La Promenade attracted between 2,000 to 3,000 attendees nightly and was a larger success than anticipated, according to HSL.

For this year, HSL is doubling the size of the event. There will be live music every night, there will be twice the number of food tenants, more marques, more seats, giveaways featuring La Promenade’s new retailer Siong How Exclusive, and even car shows.

Last year’s most popular bands, Mozaik and modern Sarawak band At Adau, will return.

Uniquely, Mozaik and At Adau will play their own sets and then jam together on the opening weekend, on Sept 16 (a public holiday) and 17 nights.

“Besides a great festive atmosphere at La Promenade’s Oktoberfest, also just as great is the live music. That’s why we are sparing no expense for music at La Promenade’s Oktoberfest,” digital marketing manager Sophia Ong said.

“The stage is larger, there are better speakers, more of the audience will have a front row view. And, importantly, we’ve also made sure to have quieter chill-out zones at our Oktoberfest, for those who just want to enjoy the company of friends and families.”

Other notable musicians include country band, OnStrings, Reening Lau will share the stage with vocalist Raquel and Fransiska, Ve6 and more.

Together, live music at La Promenade’s Oktoberfest spans a range of genres, from modern rock, local indigenous pop, country and female vocals.

For food, Ong said tenants include Ajishou, GE Sausage, Zoro, Yi Chuan Noodle, Wan’s More Burger, Borneo Fresh Pork, Terrace and Vietnamese Street Food, and more.

Beer selection includes the classic Tiger, Heineken, Guinness Beers on tap. German style wheat beer, Paulaner is available too.

“There will be a special preview of Iced Bar, a new cocktail bar coming to La Promenade Mall later this year. The mixologist Clare Geena will be offering up cocktail classics with Sarawakian twists,” Ong said.

On a related matter, Ong said parking is free, and other improvements include better way-finding signs, covered seating and more toilets.

“It is HSL’s goal to make La Promenade a buzzing cultural and community hub for Kuching and Samarahan. We want to be a platform for local entrepreneurs, Sarawakian talents, and fundamentally, a great place for all sorts of activities.

“Oktoberfest is one of our major events, which include the year-end School Holiday Run and annual Fitness Weekend, featuring the Samarahan marathon. For all the latest, visit our website for a calendar of events.”

LIVE MUSIC: Visitors will be entertained with live music performances every night by Mozaik, OnStrings, Reening Lau - Music, Ve6 Music Live Band and At Adau.
