HSL Successfully Concluded Its Third Marathon, Attracting Over 2,000 Runners

The third HSL Samarahan Marathon concluded with resounding success, as over 2,000 participants from countries as varied as Kenya, China, Singapore, South Korea, Indonesia, and Brunei joined the two-day fitness festival.

Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Abang Ismawi Abang Ali graced the prize giving ceremony, which took place at HSL’s La Promenade Mall. Also at the event was Tourism, Creative Industry & Performing Arts minister’s representative, Morshidi Fredrick.

The race, held from June 14 to 15, featured 42km full marathon, followed by 21km half marathon, 10km , 6km and 3km categories.

Xian Wen Tan topped the men’s full marathon with a time of 2 hours 55 minutes and 38 seconds, while Sally Yap claimed the women’s title in the same category.

Meanwhile, the 42km men’s and women’s veteran champions were Mohd Shawal Roslie (three hours and nine minutes) and Bee Hong Ewe (three hours and 43 minutes), respectively.

“The longer the distance categories outsold the shorter distances categories first. It was a great surprise and a huge encouragement to us.
