HSL CSR Projects with Unimas and Hoan Gallery

On Oct 31, HSL organised a twin corporate social responsibility programme for Universiti Malaysia Sarawak (Unimas) and Hoan Gallery.

More than 70 year one to three architecture students toured Precinct Grande, inside La Promenade, together with HSL managers, and consultants from David Ong Architect, MNSC Architect, Studio Objects of Affection and JK Bersatu.

The study tour for Unimas is part of HSL’s community outreach supporting public education.

On the same night, HSL sponsored Hoan Gallery’s fourth anniversary celebrations. A “birthday bash” was held at Precinct Grande’s Resort Duplex showhouse, featuring a retrospective exhibition of the gallery’s nine shows since 2021.

For the students, the visit brought classroom theories to life. “The place feels open but secure,” said 29-year-old Amir Hamzah, who is in his third and final year in the course.

The focus shifted to the arts as Hoan Gallery marked its fourth anniversary with a retrospective exhibition held at the Resort Duplex show house.

The gallery itself, located at La Promenade Mall, has become the home of Sarawak’s visual arts scene since its founding in 2021.

“In the blink of an eye, Hoan Gallery is already four years old. In that time, we’ve organised nine exhibitions, from Rebirth featuring local masters to songstress Alena Murang’s first art show, Colours of the Highlands,” said gallery founder Kee Huang.

“Our directors and staff are directly involved in the gallery’s activities.

“We’ve sponsored shows, purchased artworks as corporate gifts, and worked closely with artists to support their creative efforts,” said HSL leasing manager Angeline Ong.
