Hock Seng Lee (HSL) announced two fitness events, a fun run in Dec 2023, and what will be Samarahan’s first ever full marathon in May 2024.
The 2023 School Holiday Night Run will be on Dec 16, the first Saturday of the school holidays, while the 2024 HSL Samarahan Marathon will be on May 11-12.
Prizes for the 2024 event is over RM50,000 combined, for men, women, and veteran categories.
Uniquely, there will be top 15 prizes in most competitive categories, ensuring more people are winners.
Notable marathoner Anthony Lee and Malaysia’s leading female ultra trail marathoner Sally Yap, who is a HSL sponsored athlete attended the press conference.

Translation: Timing chips will be provided to participants in the 10km, half-marathon and full-marathon. There will be categories for men, women and seniors, with a total prize fund of over RM50,000, and the most competitive categories will have top 15 prizes to encourage more people to become winners.

Pengarah HSL, Yu Ji berkata, HSL menyasarkan seramai 3,000 ke 4,000 peserta bagi marathon. “Untuk larian malam sempena cuti sekolah, kita menyasarkan seramai 600 ke 700 peserta.”

“Registration for both of the fitness events has opened starting yesterday (Sept 26) including all enquiries regarding the events can be accessed through QR codes in the posters and link provided in the event websites,” Yu explained.

另外，2024年福胜利三马拉汉马拉松赛事总监李达平指出，有关当局所策划的路线，给予业余和专业马拉松运动员都是完美，因为路线都是最平坦，最顺畅，赛道海拔低，而且也没有急转弯道路。
Translation: In addition, Anthony Lee, Event Director of the 2024 HSL Samarahan Marathon, pointed out that the route planned by the authorities concerned is perfect for both amateur and professional marathon runners because the routes are the flattest and smoothest, with a low elevation of the course, and there are no sharp turns in the roads.
